u-blox 2014 Revenue up 22.9%, Operating Profit Rises 30%

Swiss GPS and M2M chipsets vendor u-blox has released today their financial results for 2014, announcing a revenue of CHF 270 million ($273 million), up 22.9 percent against 2013 and an operating profit of CHF 39.1 million ($39.6 million).

The net cash generated from operating activities was CHF 53.7 million ($54.3 million), representing 19.9% of revenue.

Thanks to its profitability and strong cash-flow, the company will propose at their annual general meeting the payout of a dividend of CHF 1.6 ($1.6) per share.

In 2014, Asia-Pacific generated 47.9%, EMEA 24.8% and Americas 27.3% of total revenue. The company made about 80% of its total revenue from 69 customers. u-blox’ largest customer accounted for less than 7% of revenue. In total u-blox served over 5,000 customers in 2014.

The company invested 18.5% of its revenue in R&D in 2014.

During the year with the acquisition of Malmö-based connectBlue AB and Athens-based Antcor S.A., u-blox opened up to short range, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi based radio communications. The company is now capable to offer its customers the full set of wireless technologies for industrial IoT.

For 2015 u-blox forecasts revenue of CHF 335 million ($339 million) to CHF 345 million ($349 million).
