deCarta to launch LBS API for the iPhone
LBS platform supplier deCarta has launched an application programming interface (API) for deCarta Mobile that supports rapid development of location-aware applications for the Apple iPhone. deCarta previously announced support for J2ME compatible phones.

deCarta Mobile is a client/server architecture with a client API that provides a framework for rapid development of mobile mapping applications. The framework provides mobile application developers with the ability to implement modular fluid maps, panning, zooming, routing, geocoding, reverse geocoding and pin overlays into their applications. The framework is compatible with GPS positioning as well as Wi-Fi- and cell tower-based location technologies.

Beta versions of deCarta Mobile will be available on the company's developer zone on October 31, 2008.
