W-Locate: When Cell-iD Location is Embedded in SIM Cards
At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona W-Locate, a company based out of Singapore announced a partnership with SIM card vendor Morpho (Safran) to embed geo-location technology in their SIM cards.

Offered as an applet on Java-enabled SIM cards, XimLoc from W-Locate enables carriers to launch new LBS services.

Through this partnership with Morpho, Thailand’s largest mobile operator, AIS has launched Mobile Track and Trace, one of the world’s first enterprise-specific SIM-based LBS solutions. Since the deployment AIS has already signed up 50 new corporate customers to its Mobile Track and Trace service.
