TomTom Confirms Our Scoop: Mercedes as HD Traffic Customer
Today TomTom announces that Daimler will equip its upcoming Mercedes-Benz vehicles with TomTom HD Traffic, confirming our exclusive news published on February 18 (read here).

TomTom HD Traffic will be available in 12 countries throughout Europe (in Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, Denmark, Luxembourg and Austria) starting this summer. The real-time traffic information will automatically be included in the high-end COMAND navigation system as a three year service.

This connected service will use Deutsche Telekom as a communication infrastructure. The system will send traffic information such as tailback reports, current traffic density, traffic holdups or travel warnings to the car and the car will report back its current status (anonymized traffic data) every two minutes to TomTom traffic center.
