TCS expands LBS offering into China
Last week, TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS), a provider of mission-critical wireless communications, announced the expansion of its Location-Based Services (LBS) offerings into the People's Republic of China. Building on its customer base in Hong Kong, TCS will work closely with the Alliance Development Group to enhance the global offering of LBS products and services.

"With the issuing of 3G licenses in China, we believe that location-based commercial and emergency services will be a major revenue generator for local wireless operators and China will become a world leader in LBS solutions," said Timothy J. Lorello, Chief Marketing Officer of TCS. " Due to the unique aspects of this market, we solicited assistance from Alliance Development Group because of their years of experience, strong connections, and deep understanding of the telecommunications industry in China."

TCS has a broad offering in the LBS space, including location infrastructure, location gateways, middleware platforms, geospatial and application servers, and content and applications. So far, the company has delivered LBS solutions (most of it being LBS infrastructure) to more than 50 wireless customers in North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
