NAVIGON Debuts U.S. On-Board Nav for Android
German mobile navigation provider NAVIGON has launched this week the U.S. version of its turn-by-turn on-board navigation software for Android.

The lifetime license of MobileNavigator is available immediately in the Android Market via Google Checkout for a price of $40 during a two-weeks launch period. Post promotion the app retails for a one-time fee of $60.

The price includes maps of the U.S.A. from NAVTEQ and real-time traffic information from INRIX - unlike on iTunes, there is no in-app purchase in the Android Market that would have allowed NAVIGON to offer traffic as a premium option.

This new software package also includes “reality scanner”, an augmented reality view that display POIs from the NAVTEQ map data as an overlay on the video feed from the handset camera . MobileNavigator also has a database of red light and speed cameras.

The European version of the Android software was introduced in February 2010.
