Geodesic Information Systems today announced that Mio Technology has selected Mundu IM (Instant Messenger) to be pre-loaded onto the Mio DigiWalker A702 GPS PDA Phone, which is scheduled to launch in Asia and Europe in the Fall of 2007. Mundu IM will be tied to the Mio GPS hardware and software, which will allow location-based social networking capabilities.

Users will be able to share their current locations with their friends using the GPS capability of the device and view selected friends or search friend’s location on a map and IM with them or directly navigate to them with driving directions.

"Geodesic has built one of the most comprehensive Mobile IM tools on the market and we wanted to take advantage of all their capabilities for this next-generation device to maximize our customer experience," said Steve Chang, Senior PM Director of Mio Technology.

Since its inception in 1999, the Mundu Interoperable Instant Messenger has been used by several hundred thousand cell phone users and over 5 million users on the desktop. Geodesic reported consolidated revenues of over $43 million for the year 2006-2007. The company is listed on the National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange in India.
