Intrinsyc Software - which closed last week the $16 million acquisition of navigation software company Destinator – today announced a non-exclusive multi-year agreement with Navteq for the supply of map data. NAVTEQ map content will be bundled with Intrinsyc navigation software.

Intrinsyc is a wireless software solutions provider for feature rich handsets and converged wireless devices. Soleus, the flagship software platform of Intrinsyc is a turnkey software solution for feature rich handsets built on Windows Embedded CE. Soleus includes the OS from Microsoft, an innovative UI engine, pre-certified telephony and a large application portfolio which now includes the Destinator navigation software.

“This agreement strengthens our relationship with NAVTEQ, and also provides a great platform for long term business growth”, said Souheil Gallouzi, Vice President of Mobile Products and Development at Intrinsyc. “Soleus and Destinator technology greatly speed the development of connected GPS-enabled navigation devices that can deliver mobile phone capabilities, real-time access to traffic reports and Location Based Services (LBS). High quality NAVTEQ digital map data completes this offering.”

But this agreement is non-exclusive. Glenda Dorchak, Chairman and CEO of Intrinsyc today answered via email to our question on this topic: “Our recently acquired GPS software business has already built strong alliances with major map suppliers, including NAVTEQ, and we will continue to support these relationships. […]we will continue to foster relationships with data content providers to ensure our customers’ needs are met.”
