Intersec Raised $20M in Series B Funding For U.S. Growth

Intersec, the Telco Big Data software company headquartered in France has announced yesterday the closing of a $20 million series B funding round led by Highland Capital Partners Europe and existing investors.

Intersec designs solutions that enable mobile operators to capture and monetize their network value through Big Data collection. Among severzl other products, Intersec’s Igloo technology allows for passive mass geo-location of devices without impacting radio and network resources. It can be used by wireless operators to build various types of location-based services for their customers as well as population and crowd analytics.

Intersec solutions have been adopted by around 70 wireless operators including big names like Telefonica, MTS, Zain, Telia Sonera and Orange.

"Intersec has successfully transitioned over the last few years into the leading player in Telco Big Data Software, building on its leadership in Europe. The US market is key to our success and we plan to invest significantly to expand our US Headquarters in New York," commented Intersec CEO Yann Chevalier.

“Intersec currently has a staff of 150 people and expects a turn-over of €20 million for 2014,“ said Marion Choppin, marketing director of the company, in an email to GPS Business News.
