GoCar brings GPS audio tours to Europe

GoCar, the GPS-guided audio tour company that launched in April 2004 in San Francisco, has entered the European market with the addition of locations in Barcelona and Lisbon. GoCar locations in the United States are San Francisco, San Diego and Miami.

Barcelona was the first location to open in EU and is the larger scale launch with 20 GoCars that will rise to 40 cars within next 6-9 months. The GPS Tour Network in the city offers multiple tour routes that give different perspectives on the city. Tours are available in English, Spanish and Catalan. Lisbon, with tours in Portuguese and English, launched in late-June with 10 GoCars with plans to go to 20 soon after.

The GPS software that drives the GoCar tour experience was developed in San Francisco and is licensed to the operators in Europe via a franchise agreement. GoCar said it has filed a patent in the EU patent office covering its way of delivering location-based content.
