GPS maker Garmin has announced a new personal navigation device (PND) dedicated to the recreational vehicle (RV) market. The 7-inch RV 760LMT features America’s RV Parks & Services Directory that includes repairs, RV parks and campgrounds. The PND creates custom routes based on the size and weight of the vehicle.

Garmin expects the new device to become available in summer 2013 at a retail price of $400.

Navigation features include voice-activated navigation, Garmin’s Real Directions, free lifetime traffic as well as Active Lane Guidance with voice prompts.

The device can also be connected to iPhone and Android smartphone to reeive additional connected services.

A video input on RV 760LMT allows for wireless back up camera connection to see what is behinfd the vehicle when the RV is put in reverse gear; a compatible Garmin wireless backup camera is available as an accessory for $150.

This first RV-friendly device from Garmin s targeting a niche market that has been thus far particularly developed by Rand McNally and to a lesser extend Magellan.
