Airbiquity, a provider of wireless communication solutions for telematics, today announced the 10 millionth deployment of its patented aqLink in-band software modem technology. aqLink is a software modem that delivers data over the cellular voice network via an embedded module, or wirelessly through a Bluetooth hands-free system.

A few months ago Airbiquity launched a marketing initiative towards Personal Navigation Devices manufacturer to enable their connected devices, piggybacking on the voice plan of their users. However, this market is at its very early stage, Airbiquity’s core business is currently with automotive manufacturers providing Telematics services: GM (OnStar), Ford (Ford Sync) and BMW.

“Airbiquity has distinguished itself with a unique and proven solution for vehicle connectivity thanks to its many successful commercial implementations,” commented Phil Magney, VP of automotive business practice at TRG (now part of iSuppli).
