deCarta, a North American supplier of software and services for the Location-Based Services (LBS) industry, today announced the close of a $15-million Series C-1 expansion round of funding led by existing investor Norwest Venture Partners (NVP). Other existing investors, Mobius Venture Capital and Cardinal Venture Capital, were also participants in the round.

The financing will be used to accelerate the growth of the organization in new markets and to expand its international reach in Europe and Asia.

Founded in 1996 and headquartered in San Jose, California, deCarta is a geospatial software platform that is enabling LBS applications deployed by companies and wireless operators such as Google, Ask.com, Verizon Wireless and Sprint. deCarta gives LBS providers and application developers the ability to quickly build applications integrating a wide variety of map and data sources to provide complex mapping, routing and spatial search functions. The company’s white label software platform and personal navigation software solutions enable its customers in the Internet, cell phone, PND and enterprise markets to customize their mapping application to their own look and feel.
