Zubie Raised $10m for Consumer Telematics Through OBD Plug
Zubie, a connected car service start-up has raised $10 million in Series A funding from Castrol innoVentures, the innovation arm of global lubricant giant Castrol, Comporium, Inc., and OpenAir Equity Partners.

Zubie is a cellular-connected device that plugs on the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) port which offers car health reports, car geo-location and driving behaviour reports via the associated mobile app.

The device is sold through Best Buy and Amazon in the United States and costs $99.95 with the first year of service included.

Zubie positions itself as the middle man between drivers and third party companies such as insurance providers, auto dealers, etc...

“Customers have the option of sharing their data in exchange for services and discounts from the partners. This in turn enables the company to aggregate a tremendous amount of actual and accurate driver, trip and car data on the Zubie platform that can be used by partners such as insurance companies, auto dealers and resellers for customer relationship programs,“ explained the company in a press release.
