Waze Updates App with Gas Prices in the U.S.
Social GPS navigation app Waze today added gas prices as a new feature to its mobile application.

The gas prices are said to be crowdsourced from users. Waze does not disclose the number of gas stations that it has in the app.

In addition to gas prices, Waze users will receive exclusive in- app discounts on gasoline (5 to 10 cent discounts per gallon) at 2,000 participating gas stations. To enable that Waze has set up partnerships with gas vendors such as Kum & Go, Hess, Mid-Atlantic Convenience Stores (BP and Exxon stations), and Vintners Distributers (Shell).

The gas feature is said to be rolled out in the rest of the world gradually.

Waze also said that it has reached 19 million “drivers“ across iPhone and Android. According to Waze’s spokesperson Di Ann Eisnor, who was recently interviewed by GPS Business News, a driver is being defined as “somebody who drove at least 1 kilometre with the app.“ Waze does not disclose the real number of daily or monthly users.
