“The German market has a large potential, and we are enthused to offer Wayfinder Active here. It is of strategic importance to extend our business offering beyond car navigation and integrating services like the interactive community ActiveOutdoor,” says Magnus Nilsson, CEO of Wayfinder.
Wayfinder Active’s is not only a mobile application but also an online community, available at www.activeoutdoor.com. Users can preload a specific route onto the phone’s memory so they can enjoy their activity without thinking about where they are going. Once a route or training trail is completed, the activity is automatically uploaded to the website.
In Germany Wayfinder Active makes use of the outdoor charts of Navionics, a provider of outdoor data for GPS navigation. The detailed information in 1:10.000 maps includes for instance hiking trails by difficulty level, type of vegetation, elevation contours, road network, lakes and watercourses, location names and point-of-interests.
