Vodafone Italia Launches Connected Auto OBD2 Dongle for Consumers
Vodafone Italia has launched Drivexone, an OBD2 plug-in device that connects wirelessly to a smartphone app for the remote monitoring of cars.

Drivexone offers the following features:
- Review the times, distances, average speeds, routes and places visited during your trip
- Provide at all times the location of your car, for example to find it back on a parking lot
- If you were not driving, you can monitor and verify the actual use of the vehicle.
- Receive notifications about the status of the car and reports problem.

Drivexone comes ina small form factor (5cm x 5cm x 2,5 cm) that embeds a wireless modem and a GPS. The device has jus to be connected to the diagnostic port (OBD) of the car, availabe on all models that went into production since 2003 in Europe. The cost of the device is €79 plus a subscription of €3 per month, inclusive of data traffic in Italy and 20 other European countries.

Drivexone is a product of the Vodafone Xone accelerator programme established in California in 2011 and present in Italy since 2012.

Drivexone has some similarities with Allie, the ODB dongle for insurance telematics launched by Allianz Italia one year ago (read more here).
