Visioglobe: "We Want to Bring 3D to the Masses"
In October 2009, French start-up Visioglobe raised €1.2 million from a pool of investors to provide 3D mapping to automotive and mobile devices (read story here). We recently had the opportunity to meet with Hector Briceno, vice president of engineering who presented us the VisioSki iPhone application, a proof of concept developed by the company.

Visioglobe technology is composed of preprocessing tools and a real-time 3D engine. The preprocessing tools allows for integration of different cartographic, geographic and 3D sources. The real-time 3D engine, which is the core of Visioglobe’s know-how, uses algorithms to render 3D maps (landscape and cities) with the best frame-rate and image quality.
