The data is coming from a new report issued by C.J. Driscoll & Associates which estimates that today approximately 5.5 million GPS and wireless devices are used to manage fleet vehicles, trailers, construction equipment and mobile workers. By 2015, this market will expand to over nine million units.
According to the research and consulting firm “growth is strongest in the local GPS fleet tracking market, which is expanding at a rate of 15-20% per year. In the trucking sector, proposed government regulations may result in a significant expansion in the use of Electronic On-Board Recorders (EOBRs), which are telematics solutions for monitoring driver hours of service.“
