Twitter to Use Pitney Bowes for Location Sharing in Tweets
Pitney Bowes (NYSE: PBI) today announced it has entered into a multi-year licensing agreement with Twitter to support location sharing in Tweets.

Twitter currently has more than 230 million users, and nearly 60 percent of their 500 million daily Tweets are sent from mobile devices.

It was estimated (end of 2012) that around 3 percent of tweets include geolocation metadata, meaning about 15 million tweets per day at the currrent rate.

However research showed that “one percent of all users accounted for 66 percent of georeferenced tweets, indicating they capture the activity of just a small fraction of Twitter’s user base.“

Pitney Bowes Location Intelligence solutions deliver geocoding and reverse geocoding for mobile platforms, and mapping solutions for the insurance, financial services, retail and public sectors.
