TrafficNav Partners with Infoportugal to Deliver TMC-Based Traffic Service in Portugal
Hungary-based traffic information service provider TrafficNav has signed an agreement with portughese traffic data supplier Infoportugal to provide a TMC-based traffic service in Portugal.

Infoportugal is to provide the raw traffic data that will be processed through TrafficNav system and distributed to end users through RDS (FM radio) using the TMC tables created by TrafficNav.

“At this time RDS broadcast for testing is already available and XML feed service is to commence testing with partners within days,“ wrote Tama Frigyes, director of sales at TrafficNav in an email to GPS Business News.

The total road network covered by the service is going to be 57,000 kilometres.

The TrafficNav solution will compete with the TMC solution developed by Belgian company Be-Mobile (read here) that launched one year ago in the country. Besides these TMC-enabled solutions TomTom, NAVTEQ and INRIX also provide their services locally for wirelessly connected devices and cars.

TrafficNav provides TMC services in Hungary, the Republic of Ireland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece. TrafficNav was already competing with Be-Mobile in Turkey and Greece.
