TomTom Claims 5 Trillion Anonymous Travel Data Points in Database
Dutch navigation maker TomTom today announced that its customers have shared with the company over 5,000,000,000,000 (5 trillion) anonymous travel data points since 2006.

“The travel data points cover over 140 billion kilometres, which equals driving each and every road in our markets 3,000 times,“ wrote TomTom in a press release. “Six billion new travel data points are shared every day enabling us to continuously improve our maps, routing and services.“

TomTom is using this database in many products: IQ Routes, Speed Profiles, MultiNet map database, HD Traffic, Custom Travel Times, Custom Origin Destination and Isochronal maps.
