Sony to Ship GPS for Bicycles
Sony Japan announced a few days ago the launch of the NV-U35, a device that marries a cycle computer and a Personal Navigation Device (PND). Coming with an optional handlebar mount, this device displays rider’s performance (speed, distance, time elapsed, calories burned, etc.) as well as provides a full turn-by-turn navigation view on a scratch resistant, rain-proof (IPX5) 3.5-inch screen.

The product has a saving mode (screen shut off and guidance given by voice) that allows 11 hours of continuous operation on a single battery charge.

The product can also be used by pedestrians as it includes dedicated map data such as subways, train stations, pedestrian bridges and parks. The built-in electronic compass automatically rotates the map according to the direction faced by the user.

The NV-U35 will be available in April in Japan for 37,000 Yen (about US$ 400).
