Shanghai OnStar Hits 600,000 Chinese Subscribers
Shanghai OnStar announced this week that it now has 600,000 subscribers across China. the telematics provider claims to be the leading telematics service provider in the country.

“At the end of October, the number of OnStar subscribers hit the 500,000 milestone. Reaching 600,000 just nine months later has exceeded our expectations,” said Diane Jurgens, Managing Director of Shanghai OnStar.

“We are actively developing new functions, such as the My Vehicle Location mobile app, Camera Alert and Avoid Traffic, to ensure excellent service for our subscribers.”

IMS Research (now owned by IHS) predicted last year that OEM Telematics is set to reach 10 million subscribers in China by 2019 (read more here).

In a recent study about Chinese consumers appetite for telematics, U.S. telematics consultancy firm Trajectory Group found out that SOS emergency is the most important and appealing service.
