Sensewhere Supplies Location Tech to Brazilian MVNO Porto Seguro
Scottish indoor location start-up Sensewhere announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona an agreement to provide its location technology to the first Brazilian MVNO operated by Porto Seguro, one of the largest insurance companies in South America.

The service includes real-time location check-ins, monitoring and notifications, panic button and emergency call. The application is available for both Android and iOS operating systems.

According to Sensewhere, "The application is an integral part of the MVNO‘s core service offering and key to its value proposition and as a major differentiator providing tracking and geo location both indoors and outdoors for commercial, family and personal usage."

The MVNO, named Porto Seguro Conecta, has started operations last summer with the installation of the first 2,000 proprietary chips in cars owned by employees and customers of Porto Seguro.

Its goal is to install the equipment in all the vehicles covered by the insurer, or approximately 450,000 vehicles, by 2014.

The second phase of Porto Seguro Conecta is the launch of voice and data services. It will provide M2M and mobile telephony services to the insurer's staff, brokers and customers.
