Pioneer Releases Firmware to Support Apple CarPlay in Infotainment Systems
Pioneer has become one of the first aftermarket infotainment system manufacturer to support Apple CarPlay with a range of existing products: 4 in Europe and 6 in North America.

That concerns five 2014 NEX in-dash multimedia receivers (4 equivalent devices in Europe), as well as the introduction of the CarPlay-compatible fourth generation AppRadio (SPH-DA120) in the United States.

The CarPlay firmware update is now available at no charge on Pioneer’s website. Current owners of infotainment systems can simply load the firmware on a USB memory device and connect it to the receiver’s USB cable input. Pioneer is also sending the CarPlay firmware to authorized retailers.
