Panasonic and Garmin to partner for OEM navigation projects

Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America and Garmin International today announced they have agreed to collaborate on OEM automotive projects targeting various vehicle manufacturers. The agreement provides the framework for the companies to jointly create customized navigation products for the global automotive industry.

“Both companies will continue to pursue independent initiatives, as well as jointly work on select OEM programs” they said today. This announcement is showing that the U.S. automotive market is taking seriously into consideration consumer electronics navigation brands.

Panasonic is developing its own navigation solution under the Strada brand but with a fast emerging consumer navigation brand such as Garmin it probably makes sense to provide some of its OEM clients with Garmin's navigation and consumer know-how.
