Palringo gets Webby Awards for “Best Use of GPS or Location Technology’
UK-based mobile Instant Messenger Palringo has won the Webby People’s Voice Award, voted for online by the global web community, in the Best Use of GPS or Location Technology category of the 13th Annual Webby Awards.

Palringo allows to talk to friends on a large number of IM services such as AOL Instant Messenger, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, Gadu-Gadu, ICQ, Jabber, Windows Live and Apple iChat. Palringo has integrated a geo-location feature to share user’s location based on Cell-iD, Wi-Fi or GPS technologies. When in use the location of the user is automatically inserted in the status line on all IM networks he is participating in. Various privacy settings are available to block the location feature by contact or group.

Palringo’s founder and CTO, 23 year old Martin Rosinski, said: “The People’s Voice Awards are voted for by ordinary people, people who use the services or products concerned. To win one suggests we have developed a mobile service that people not only use, but love.”

Others nominees for the Webby People’s Voice Award, Best Use of GPS or Location Technology category, included Adidas Marathon Run Tracker, Careerbuilder.com’s iPhone App, Nokia viNe and Sony Ericsson “Find It”.
