PND market to reach 2.6M units in France in 2007
According to a Mediametrie/GFK study published yesterday with a panel of 22,000 respondents, 3 million French households owned a GPS (in-dash or portable) during the second quarter 2007. Equipment increased 21% against the first quarter. 15.7% of households owning a car also own a GPS reveals the study. Mediametrie/GFK expects the PND market to reach 2.6 million units in 2007. Today most of the buyers are new to GPS but the market research firms expect second time buyers to represent a significant part of the sales in 2008 and to look after more sophisticated devices.

According to recent TomTom and Garmin forecasts the European PND market should reach 14 to 16 million units this year.
