Optus Opens Mobile Nav to all Customers
Australian wireless operator Optus today announced the launch of its navigation service powered by Telmap on all mobile platforms with live-traffic . Optus Navigator is available free of charge to Optus OB subscribers (Optus Business) and for a monthly fee for consumer and SMB subscribers.

Optus has been working with Telmap for over 18 months since the launch of the Blackberry Curve 8900 with a one year navigation license (read here). The iPhone application was launched early August 2010 and it cost AU$5 per month.

Optus has developed its own real-time traffic system with cellular probes and ITIS Holdings' technology (read more here). Consumer apps and services leveraging this technology were launched recently (see here).
