Nissan North America and SiriusXM have announced yesterday a partnership where the digital radio supplier will be the exclusive provider of a suite of telematics services to the car maker.
The services will include 24/7 emergency support for accidents, stolen vehicle tracking and roadside assistance.
"Offering telematics services is a logical next step for SiriusXM, building on our advanced in-vehicle technological capabilities, subscriber management expertise, and proven experience providing national service to drivers," said Mel Karmazin, CEO of SiriusXM.
These telematics services are leveraging both cellular technology for two-way connectivity and satellite radio for information broadcasting. Under the XM brand SiriusXM has been supplying traffic, weather, fuel prices, etc. to various navigation systems for many years.
