New Head for EU GNSS Agency

New Head for EU GNSS Agency
Carlo des Dorides was officially appointed as the new executive director of the European GNSS Agency (formerly known as GNSS Supervisory - GSA), starting on February, 1st, 2011.

Carlo des Dorides, an Italian national, spent almost seven years directly involved with the Galileo and EGNOS programmes, three years in the air traffic management and thirteen years in the private aerospace sector.

des Dorides will succeed Heike Wieland, who served as GSA acting director following the departure of Pedro Pedreira last June.

The Agency, currently based in Brussels, is soon to be moved to Czech Republic, following a decision of European Union member states to make Prague the seat of the Agency.

As a European Community agency, it works with the European Commission, among other things, on a range of market development activities aimed at helping European entrepreneurs and businesses – especially high tech small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), business incubators and related networks – commercially exploit EGNOS and Galileo
