NAVTEQ Inks Deal with AvMap
NAVTEQ today announced to have been selected as digital map provider by AvMap, an italian provider of high end PNDs and semi integrated automotive-grade navigation systems.

“Because of its historical presence in the automotive industry, NAVTEQ has developed digital maps and a content portfolio that matches the high quality requested by the industry. therefore we are convinced that this agreement will benefit to our expansion in the automotive industry, said Avmap CEO Simone Lazzarini.

“Avmap has invested in customized and semi-integrated GPS navigation systems since 2007 and we deliver solutions to OEMs such as Citroën, Peugeot and Toyota“, he added. The company is also working with Mitsubishi in Brazil.

AvMap will use NAVTEQ global map database as well as NAVTEQ Transport for Europe that integrates special atttribute for logistics and truck navigation.

This agreement is however not exclusive as AvMap also recently announced it is sourcing map data from Dutch map maker AND for its Western European iPhone navigation apps (read here).
