NAVIGON Launches iPhone App in India
NAVIGON has recently released (November 24) its first iPhone navigation application for the Indian market with NAVTEQ maps. The application costs $49.99.

Thus far Indian iPhone users had essentially the choice between “Mobile Maps India” from Sygic ($49.99 withMapMyIndia maps) or “Navigation for India - iGo MyWay” from Nav N Go ($69.99).

The Sygic application is currently the top grossing app on iTunes India, making more money than Angry birds and other popular iPhone games. It demonstrates the interest of Indian high end consumers for mobile navigation.

Nevertheless, India remains a niche market for iPhone sales. According to Canalys, reported by the Wall Street Journal, Apple accounted for less than 1 per cent of India's Smartphone market share in the first half of 2010.
