Mio partnered with Universal Studios Digital Platforms Group to become a Knight Rider licensee and Navtones to include voice guidance and turn-by-turn directions featuring the original voice of K.I.T.T., (Knight Industries Two Thousand). K.I.T.T. is a talking car with artificial intelligence featured in the Knight Rider television series that is being revived this fall on NBC television.
Mio’s Knight Rider GPS retail price is $269.99. Will U.S. consumers fall in love with the “red LED lights flanking both sides of the screen that flash in sync with K.I.T.T.'s voice”? This is difficult to tell, but the price is probably a bit inflated, since the GPS platform used for this device is the Moov 300 that was originally selling at $229.95 (manufacturer’s suggested price) this summer and is still for a few days available and discounted at the same RadioShack stores for $169.
