Location-triggered App for Universal Studio theme park
Santa Monica, Calif. based mobile software developer Geodelic was chosen by the Universal Studio theme park in Hollywood to develop a free iPhone and Android application for its Halloween Horror Nights taking place during the month of October.
The application displays the map of the park and the location of the user with points of interest such as attractions, restaurants, shops, etc. In addition the software provides real-time information such as ride wait times and upcoming show times. A location-based scavenger hunt is also integrated in the application: users have to discover 6 puzzle pieces across the park to “escape a gory fate”. This month Geodelic also won the People’s Choice award at the SiRF’s Location 2.0 Summit in the Consumer Applications & Services Category. Geodelic was founded early 2008 by Rahul Sonnad who previously founded and led an Internet video publishing company acquired by Comcast in 2006. Tuesday October 20, 2009
