Killed by a Map: Scott Forstall Exits Apple
Scott Forstall, vice president in charge of Apple’s iOS Software “will be leaving Apple next year and will serve as an advisor to CEO Tim Cook in the interim,“ said the Cupertino-based company yesterday night in a press release.

Forstall who joined Apple in 1997 through the acquisition of NeXT appears to have paid the price of the recent Maps failure.

“Eddy Cue (i.e. currently VP of iTunes) will take on the additional responsibility of Siri and Maps, placing all of our online services in one group. This organization has overseen major successes such as the iTunes Store, the App Store, the iBookstore and iCloud. This group has an excellent track record of building and strengthening Apple’s online services to meet and exceed the high expectations of our customers,“ wrote Apple in the press release.
