Huawei to Resell TCS LBS Platform to Wireless Carriers

Huawei to Resell TCS LBS Platform to Wireless Carriers
Huawei and TeleCommunication Systems have announced an agreement where Huawei customers will have access to TCS' location-based services (LBS) technology.

TCS will provide its Xypoint LBS solutions to complement Huawei's network infrastructure products and solutions. The relationship will include providing LBS platforms and professional services to address the growing operator demand for LBS managed services. TCS will deploy a dedicated team to support Huawei with business, marketing, and technical resources.

The products covered by this agreement include:
• Gateway Mobile Location Center (GMLC), which coordinates activities to ensure that a location is obtained and returned to the requesting application;
• Serving Mobile Location Server (SMLC), used for determining the coordinates of a handset based on network measurements;
• Secure User Plane Location (SUPL) servers, which support Assisted-GPS precise location determination, enabling commercial services for applications that require precise positioning (e.g. Navigation, Family Finder); and
• Location Services Gateway, which serves as the interface between the LBS platform components and LBS applications using standard communication protocols, and provides authentication, authorization, privacy, and revenue assurance related to location applications and transactions.
