Harman Inks Deal with Asian Car Makers Geely, BAIC and Tata
In-car infotainment provider Harman announced today that it has finalized multi-year agreements with three leading domestic automakers in China and India. The three separate deals with Geely Motors, BAIC Motors of China and Tata Motors of India, represents a record total of more than $500 million.

"These new awards further validate our strategic focus and aggressive investments in the high-growth emerging markets," said Dinesh C. Paliwal, Harman Chairman, President and CEO. "Over the last four years, we have built three world class manufacturing plants, four engineering and two R&D centers in China and India and employ 2000 people there.“

Geely Motors, a leading Chinese automaker and parent company of Volvo Cars, has selected Harman to develop an audio and infotainment system for its upcoming luxury sedan, and an infotainment platform for its new mid-sized luxury SUV.

China's BAIC Motors has also tapped HARMAN to provide a premium JBL branded audio system and infotainment solution for a new full-sized luxury sedan debuting in 2013.

For Tata Motors, India's leading automotive company and parent company of Jaguar Land Rover, Harman will develop a branded audio and infotainment strategy for vehicles across Tata's new vehicle range.

Harman forecasts to deliver $1.5 Billion in revenues by 2015 in the BRIC countries, where sales increased by 32 percent during their most recent fiscal quarter.
