GyPSii Adds 1M Users over Last Quarter, Enters South America
Location-based social media platform GyPSii said today it has gained 1 million new users in the last quarter. The company has been mainly developing in China over the last two years and is now launching several new partnerships that will accelerate its global footprint, particularly in South America.

Monetization of its social network has also started to bear fruits thanks to several agreements with mobile advertising and coupon suppliers. Working with Shanghai coupon provider Kubang, GyPSii connects users with coupons for nearby restaurants that the user views alongside user-created content on the GyPSii network. GyPSii has also partnered with leading Chinese mobile advertising network MADhouse to help deliver inventory for major global and regional brands. GyPSii has other deals in place with Admob, search engine company Baidu, and CHANet, the leading mobile marketing affiliate network in China.

Telefonica and Genasys
GyPSii is also announcing this week its foray into the South American wireless market. the Dutch company has been selected by Genasys, a provider of mobile location services, as its exclusive, mobile social network partner. In partnership with Telefonica, they will launch a consumer-focused application to subscribers across Latin America.

This agreement is part of a larger contract where Telefonica Internacional S.A. designated Genasys as the exclusive provider of Location Based value added services for the 13 countries in Latin America where Telefonica operates.

The application built on GyPSii’s OpenExperience API is expected to launch first in Mexico branded as Movistar “Powered by GyPSii” in March 2010, and will be available on Blackberry, Android, Java, Symbian S60, Windows Mobile and WAP-enabled devices.

GyPSii has also announced this week partnerships with Telmap and Intrynsic (Destinator) to link their navigation systems with its social network.
