Ghost Town Gets Local Reviews: Welcome to Google+ Local
Google Places is dead, welcome to Google+ Local: today Google POIs directory Places has found a new home inside Google+ as announced in a blog post of the search engine company

The new version of this places directory offers Zagat reviews as well as “reviews from friend you trust,“ i.e. within Google+.

Knowing the little engagement Google+ is known for (the now so-called ghost town of social media), it is unlikely users will find reviews from friends. For that purpose they would rather go to local recommendation services such as Yelp, Qype or Tellmewhere that have integrated APIs from Facebook.

More interesting is the addition of Zagat reviews (a company bought by Google last year for $151 million) into this revamped place directory, adding more quality content to it, even if Zagat is based itself on 400,000 “citizen reviewer.“

Business owners who use Google Places for Business still access their Google Places page and dashboard as they used to. But their Place information now appears in the context of a Google+ Local page.
