Garmin Rolls Out iPhone Nav App at CES
At the CES trade show in Las Vegas Garmin today announced its first turn-by-turn navigation app for iPhone, StreetPilot that retails on iTunes at $39.99. The application uses off-board maps and provides free traffic information within the package.

The choice of off-board maps is surprising since Garmin was emphasizing on-board maps, “offering a better choice for consumers”, when positioning its Nuvifone solution against Google Maps Navigation only a few months ago.

As expected the Garmin software will increase the competition between navigation vendors on the iTunes App Store. Within a few hours of its launch the application is ranking on the second position for top grossing application in the US app store, right after Angry Birds.
