Garmin Intros 2 New Affordable PNDs in India
Last week GPS maker Garmin launched two new products in India and officially announced the opening of its Indian office in Jasola, New Delhi.

The nüvi 40LM (4.3-Inch) and 50LM (5-Inch) PNDs are priced at Rs 8,450 and Rs 9,990 respectively. They feature lifetime map updates from NAVTEQ for India as well as maps of Malaysia and Singapore (these are from a local map provider).

“Different from traditional navigation devices, which make it difficult to understand the street name or area because of in-built American accent, Garmin self-developed technology and was the first to implement Indian accent into devices. We believe Indian English sounds much more familiar and can be well-recognised by Indian people. Furthermore, voice guidance in Hindi will further help in popularising the devices,” said Tony An, Garmin Asia Marketing Director.

These two devices are priced pretty aggressively on the Indian market where the lowest price for a 4.3-inch device seemed to be around Rs 10,000 for its competitors TomTom and MapmyIndia. SatNavTech is the only one having a 4.3-inch device priced at Rs 6,500.
