Fastrax, MtekVision to integrate soft GPS into multimedia processors

Fastrax and MtekVision have announced a partnership to integrate Fastrax Software GPS into MtekVision’s Maple-3 multimedia processors. This technology cooperation brings for the first time Fastrax Software GPS to existing customers using Maple-3 and Maple-3X media processors.

MtekVision is the largest fabless semiconductor company in Korea; last year it shipped its 300th million mobile multimedia integrated circuit device. The company is focusing on multimedia semiconductor solutions for portable devices such as mobile phones, smart phones, PDAs, MP3 players and voice recorders.

Fastrax Software GPS is integrated with MtekVision’s Maple-3X media processors, which have dual ARM9 350MHz processors and APEX, MtekVision’s next generation massively parallel SIMD processor-based DSP. Demonstrated in February at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the new Fastrax Software GPS will be available on selected Maple-3X processors by mid 2009.
