Open data platform Factual has released today a new API called Geopulse that provides attributes for a said location based on the type of business located around and census data.
“You pass us a latitude and longitude, and we return additional attributes, called 'pulses', about that location. Pulses employ Factual’s network of signals, calculated metrics, and census data to give a unique purview of a given local point, wrote Bill Michels, vice president of Product Management and Partnerships at Factual.
Factual worldwide database currently has 60 million local businesses and landmarks.
Pulse is launching with the following attributes:
- Factual Commercial Density: Relative density of businesses near a location
- Factual Commercial Profile: Types of businesses near a location
- Nearest: provides the nearest Factual Place (a business or landmark)
- Demographics: Age, gender, race, median household income for a given location (US only)
“Pricing will depend on use case and usage volume,“ wrote Michels.
The company is also now offering a reverse geocoder that converts a longitude and latitude into an address (US only) or region (49 other countries).
