End of Garmin-Asus Partnership Rumored

End of Garmin-Asus Partnership Rumored
At the end of last week, a rumor coming from a Chinese newspaper indicated that Garmin and ASUS would end their partnership at the end of 2010.

According to the daily, the two year partnership would end on January 1st, 2011 and would not be renewed, even if both companies would continue to work together on a number of projects, including offering Garmin’s navigation software on forthcoming ASUS products.

While just a rumor today it is however pretty much in line with Garmin willingness to review their mobile business unit which results have not been successful.

Despite partnerships with a number of wireless operators worldwide, the sales of Garmin-ASUS devices have been sluggish thus far and the companies slow to develop new smartphones in comparison with fast moving, high caliber competitors such as Motorola, HTC, Samsung and others.

Garmin will announce its financial results for the third quarter 2010 on November 3rd, 2010.
