Encyclopaedia Britannica sues TomTom and Magellan
Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc. filed a lawsuit on May 21 against TomTom and Magellan in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin (Judge John C. Shabaz) for patent infringement about a computerized map system. American TV & Appliance of Madison, a local Wisconsin consumer electronics retailer is also sued, probably for selling the navigation systems of TomTom and Magellan.

The Court for the Western District of Wisconsin is also where Garmin filed earlier complaints for intellectual property infringement against TomTom.
