At a Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco on Friday, Dash announced it is opening its PND platform to third party content. Dash will support GeoRSS and KML (the Google geo-format) and allow websites to directly connect their content to the Dash platform. Dash demonstrated this integration with Upcoming.org and Zillow.com, one allowing to directly find local community events and the other real estate estimates in the neighborhood you are driving. Users of the Dash Express connected PND will be able to manage the content they want on their PND from the Dash website.

Dash expects to start selling its PND in the first quarter of 2008. The device is expected to carry a price of $500 to $600 and a monthly service fee in the range of $10 to $15. This announcement comes as a good news to Dash that recently pushed back its commercial launch to 2008.
