Dash Navigation busy raising money, not selling product
Dash Navigation is announcing today that it has secured $25 million in Series B funding. This funding might explain why the company delayed its launch plan. Indeed, when the company officially launched in September 2006 the timeline was supposed to be as follow: product availability in California early 2007, then national US launch in the summer 2007. Now the schedule reads as a national launch in fall 2007 with no mention of any local product availability prior to this date.

The lack of cash might have delayed the Californian launch, but why the national launch? One might express some concerns about wether or not Dash will deliver on its promise. By fall 2007 the market conditions - very tight margins and high profile brands - will be even more difficult for new entrants . Will consumer be ready to pay a premium for a connected device as Dash Express? Only the future will tell.
