CompeGPS to Power new Evadeo Crossover PNDs

CompeGPS to Power new Evadeo Crossover PNDs
This fall French mapping Institute IGN is refreshing its line of “Evadeo” crossover PNDs with four new models: Evadeo M20 (€199), M30 (€249), X50 (€399) and X60 (€449). This new range will boast new software developed by Spanish outdoor navigation editor CompeGPS - instead of the software from BCI Navigation found in previous products.

This new software offers three modes of navigation: car, bicycle or pedestrian each of them available both on Navteq map data (France for M20 and X50, Europe for M30 and X60) or IGN topographic maps (1:50,000 included in the device; 1:25,000 available as premium download).

All devices have a 4.3 inches screen, but the premium X series is water resistant (IPX4) and includes a 7 hour removable battery, lifetime subscription to traffic information, real 3D view of topographic map data and navigation on footpaths.

With the launch of the first Garmin nüvi crossover PND the competition is going to get more aggressive on this French market segment where Evadeo has been pretty much alone so far. IGN will have to compete with the marketing machine developed in France by Garmin since the acquisition of its distributor last year.
